Dr. Lawrence D. Rosen is a board-certified general pediatrician committed to family-centered, holistic child health care. He is the founder of one of the country's first green, integrative primary care practices -- the Whole Child Center -- in Oradell, NJ. He serves as Medical Advisor to The Deirdre Imus Environmental Center for Pediatric Oncology.

Dr. Rosen is a nationally recognized expert in Pediatric Integrative Medicine. He is a founding member and Vice-Chair of the American Academy of Pediatrics Section on Complementary and Integrative Medicine. He is a frequent speaker at both professional and consumer gatherings, discussing topics such as holistic care of the newborn and the integrative management of autism. Dr. Rosen is a graduate of New York Medical College and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He completed his residency and chief residency in pediatrics at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York.

Research - Lifestye and Environmental Agents Causing Cancer: An Overview
The increasing incidence of a variety of cancers after the Second World War confronts scientists with the question of their origin. In Western countries, expansion and aging of the population as well as progress in cancer detection using new diagnostic and screening tests cannot fully account for the observed growing incidence of cancer. Researchers at the Cancer Research Center in Paris explore the hypothesis that environmental factors play a more important role in cancer genesis than is generally agreed.
Viewpoint - Cognitive Late Effects: We Are Failing Our Children
Cyndi MacKinlay is the mother of a 15-year old cancer survivor. Her son, Andrew, was diagnosed in 1998 with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) when he was five years old.  He concluded treatment in 2000 and remains in remission. This author explores the similarity of "cognitive late effects" experienced by patients with brain trauma and children with leukemia, the population most at risk for cognitive late effects.

International Childhood Cancer Day
February 15th is a day designated to raise awareness about childhood cancer.  Established in 2001 by the International Confederation of Childhood Cancer Parent Organizations (ICCCPO), an international collaborative of over 100 member organizations in over 60 countries, the day brings together families and supporters in a common goal of educating the public and raising funds for childhood cancer research and programs. The symbolic gold ribbon is the official ribbon of children with cancer worldwide  Just one day a year is designated to raise awareness about childhood cancer (Feb. 15th), but the idea is to respond and spread the message throughout the year. ...more
